So, i was sitting here thinking, - and listening to King Crimson - when it dawned on me. Being such a big fan (well big enough for my own well-being), I was kinda bummed out about the fact that I hadn’t blogged about the 30 year anniversary of the band.
So here I am now, blogging about this brilliant band, paying tribute to 30 years of unique music that never conformed to the bland mainstream. I don’t think over the past 30 years has there been a more progressive band, crossing over many genres of music including classical, jazz, blues, electronica, punk, pop, and metal.
For me, they ARE the definition of Progressive rock. They are more than a progressive rock band; they are THE King Crimson. For the next two weeks (i don’t REALLY give a shit if this crosses over into the abyss of 2010, to be honest), i will be posting about each of the band’s records. Tomorrow is “In The Court Of The Crimson King,” which for me, was more than what any other progressive band (Genesis, for example, who i love dearly as well) could ever offer me musically. They entrance only the bright ears that can really understand the depth of the music Robert Fripp and co. have been putting out since 1969.
Oh, and if you guys would like to check out the lead track from their aforementioned debut album, you can check out the track HERE.
